BULLIES BE GONE PROJECT – PRE-TEST FOR STUDENT PARTICIPANTS IN THE 18-MODULE COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM

Teachers, either retain the students’ completed tests, or record their answers to enable comparing their answers to the final (post) test.

To the Student:   We want to see how much you know about bullying before you begin your training.  If there is a question that you DO NOT know the answer to, simply skip the question and go on to the next one.

You are not being graded on this pre-exam.  We are only testing your knowledge of the subject of eliminating and preventing bullying before you begin your formal training. Throughout the test, Bullies Be Gone Project will be referred to as BBGP.  

NOTE:
The questions in the pre-and post-Bullies Be Gone Project tests are identical by design.
Students are not expected to be able to correctly answer many of the questions on the pre-test, as they represent what will be taught within the curriculum modules.

1. What does it mean to be KEENLY street aware, and KEENLY internet aware?

Being keenly Street-Aware means I always know what is going on around me. Being keenly Internet Aware means that I am always aware of Cyberspace bullies. I follow the instructions of parents and teachers when I am on the internet

2. What is the importance of “Hitting the Light Switch” when confronted by a bully?

A light switch turns the light on very fast! That is how fast my mind must react to a bully.

3. Name the three (3) most important things to do that are extremely necessary whenever a bully gets in your face.  Explain why each one is important.

a. Relax-it allows me to take control of a bullying situation instead of the bully taking control of me.

b. React- Quickly determine I will not allow myself to feel angry, sad, or afraid, but that I am going to keep my feelings under control.

c. Respond-What I will do immediately, with control, focus, and confidence. Walk away, run away, or talk my out of the situation.

4. How does social skills development impact whether or not someone becomes a bully?

A kid will never become a bully when they possess good social skills

5. What are the four (4) emotions most kids immediately have when they are confronted by a bully?

a. Fear
b. Confusion
c. Surprise
d. Intimidation

6. What does mental toughness have to do with bullying?

Mental toughness develops strong self-confidence which helps prevent bullying.

7. What weakness do all bullies have?

They lack self-confidence

8. How do self-confidence and being bullied relate to each other?

Bullies like to bully people who do not have self-confidence because they are easy targets.

9. How can a kid’s “mental toughness” defeat a bully?

The kid’s mental toughness shows that he or she has self-confidence and powerful determination not to be bullied.

10. What is the importance of parents and teachers being involved in student internet activity?

There are many ways people try to attack kids on the internet. Students could be tempted to get involved in dangerous activities and need adults to help them be more aware.

11. What is the most important thing to communicate to an internet bully?

Nothing!

12. What is the significance (importance) of “body language” as it applies to bullying?

Strong body language shows strong self-confidence/self-esteem.

13. Why should you not share what you learn in BBGP training, other than with your parents, teacher, or kids who have also had BBGP training?

Because a bully could be watching, which eliminates the element of surprise.

14. List three (3) examples of being “street smart”.

a. Avoiding blind spots
b. Not being on a cell phone
c. Always being keenly aware of surroundings by frequently looking around
d. Walking on the safer side of the street and safest place on the sidewalk
e. Knowing what to do if being followed

15. What secret do most bullies keep that they don’t want others to know?

They don’t want others to know that they do not have self-confidence

No matter what someone’s difference is, it is not their weakness but it is their strength.

18. What does it mean to “Do the Unexpected” when confronted by a bully?

A bully is expecting the victim to act a certain way. By doing the unexpected the bully becomes confused and loses control of the situation.
