“You Weren’t Born A Bully”- Poem
You weren’t born a bully, what happened along the way?
Did you all of a sudden, declare that you were going to be a bully and get joy from making other kids feel lousy day after day?
Deep in your heart, do you really think being a bully is okay?
Have you been bullied yourself? So, to get back at other kids, you decided to be the big bad bully too?
Do you seek out kids that you can easily intimidate because you know they’re not as physically strong as you?
You weren’t born a bully, you allowed yourself to become one because for some misguided reason, you inappropriately wanted to.
You can just as easily change and become a nice kid, and not bully anyone anymore; it’s really not that hard to do.
I’ll gladly help and be your friend if you like. Maybe together we can find a way to end your bullying ways.
You weren’t born a bully; you were born to be a nice and kind kid. Why not start today!

Remind students: Select your favorite words or phrases in the poem. Copy them onto your “My Favorites” at the end of your workbook! Practice repeating them over and over again, so you are ready to confidently respond to a bully.
Students are to respond to the following on page 31 of their Student Workbooks:
- After giving students a clear understanding of the following vocabulary words and have them write each word in a sentence.
Declare
Lousy
Intimidate
- Students are to write a short letter to a bully, expressing how they feel about his or her behavior.
- Students give a written response: At what age do you think kids begin to bully others?
REMINDER: Modules 1-16 are followed by a short quiz (in the student workbooks) so students can demonstrate mastery of the lesson. This is followed by a teacher evaluation, taking into consideration various aspects of what the students have learned from that module. Please make special note of any particular accomplishments, improvements made, or areas in need of improvement. Your signature and date follow at the bottom of the page.
