Students need to realize the importance of being taught about bullying, and why they should take this training very seriously. Providing statistics should help you in emphasizing the importance of this training. 

The statistics are listed at the very bottom of this page under Preface to Teacher’s Manual, then under the category “Statistics”. Make your selections from the four sources.

Use your discretion in selecting age-appropriate statistics to be read to your students. As each statistic is read, please follow with a discussion about:

What the statistic means

If their personal experiences cause them to relate to the statistic

Student recommendations as to what they think should be done as a remedy for changing those statistics.

These statistics are alarming, frightening, and unacceptable. The negative emotional impact of bullying can linger well into adulthood. Let’s work together to make a change in our school!
